Hospice awarded 'Good' rating
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has awarded Thames Hospice a ‘Good’ rating across all areas – praising the local charity for its safe, comfortable and supportive environment; tailored kind and compassionate care and open culture.
The unannounced inspection took place from 9-10 February 2016, with the independent regulator of health and social care in England rating Thames Hospice based on its levels of safety, effectiveness, how caring a service is offered, its responsiveness and leadership.
Debbie Raven, Thames Hospice Chief Executive, said: “I'm delighted to share the results of our CQC inspection - this is a fantastic achievement. We already know from our benchmarking data that the services we provide here are superb in all areas, from occupancy to quality of care, and we are hugely appreciative of the excellent work of our incredible teams - who remain focussed on the delivery of the very best care for our patients and their loved ones.”
The CQC found that people felt safe receiving care from the hospice, that staff were kind and compassionate and ready to give patients and families tailored support whenever needed.
Other key achievements highlighted were the open culture, provided by a strong management team, and clear clinical governance – meaning the best possible care could be provided for people facing life-limiting illnesses in the local community.
